“What is one planet living?”
The environmental demands that we place on the planet are focusing attention on what would constitute a fairer use and appropriate allocation of environmental resources. This talk explores whether and how civil society can respond to the problem of "ecological overshoot" - the overconsumption of ecological resources. The focus is on the reduction of CO2 emissions. We have the potential right now (without technical innovations) to make a positive contribution - through a "bottom-up" approach of changing behaviours and practices whilst maintaining a high quality of life. For too long, the focus has been on only the negative aspects without a more positive framing of what we can do and the benefits that arise.
